F-104 Pro Build
January 3rd, 2010 Posted in Building, F104 Pro, On-RoadWhile in Japan I picked up an F-104 Pro. I’ve ummed and ahhhhhed about the purchase for ages, but once you’re standing in the shop on the other side of the world holding the box there isn’t much of a choice. So back in Australia it was time to build it. Of all the cars I’ve built, this one was the easiest, which isn’t a bad thing.
I’ve build it stock except for the following:
- Tamiya 54166 – Aluminium Motor Mount
- Tamiya 54165 – F104 Soft T-bar
For the electronics I ended up with
- Standard Futaba 3003 servo
- Hobbywing 35A ESC with 13T 3000kv brushless motor
So here are some pictures from the build.
First off is the box, gotta begin somewhere:
All the parts for the kit:
Motor mount area:
Rear axle, diff and motor all mounted:
Basically built, sans electronics:
Close up of front:
TRF Damper and friction pad:
All built:
In the end, after Mick’s suggestion, I decided to go with green for the paint job. I think it turned out awesome.
So there it is, the F-104 Pro is all built, but how will it go at the track…..
